Whether you’re completely new to teaching Mandarin and don’t know where to start, or you’ve been teaching it for years and simply need further ideas for lesson planning, the UCL IOE Confucius Institute Primary Mandarin Toolkit is here to help.

The 3 main sections, which can be found in the menu bar, are:

1. Introducing Mandarin – Have a look here if you want to set up Mandarin as a subject in your primary school and need advice on how to start.
2. Progressing Mandarin – Go here if Mandarin is already set up in your primary school, but is in its early stages and you want to develop it further.

Acknowledgements:

The toolkit has been developed in close partnership with a group of experienced teachers who have kindly dedicated time to creating, reviewing and curating resources to share with the wider Primary Mandarin community. These teachers come from a wide range of primary schools across the UK, and also include guest Hanban teachers who are currently here from China.
