Links to Secondary Schools

To ensure that the knowledge and skills learnt in KS1 and KS2 are retained and developed further after the pupil leaves primary school, it is important to establish links with local secondary schools that offer Mandarin as a strong and well-established subject on their curriculum.

The below PPT (saved in PDF format) was presented by Cindy Rutherford at our 2017 Annual Conference and advises on how best to build that all important link with local secondary schools.

Formal Qualification

As pupils near the end of KS2, some schools like children to sit an examination which recognises their commitment and progress in the language. The YCT and HSK are used fairly commonly to gain this recognition. We have a page dedicated to this – click here to see it.
